Here is a little bit about me:
I grew up in a small town in the mountains of North Georgia. There were a lot of woods, very few stoplights, and the Walmart parking lot was the place to go after Friday night football games. Growing up I saw the Legally Blonde movie and decided that I had to go to Harvard for college and become a lawyer! But my senior year of high school, I decided to switch to business, and I applied early decision at the University of Pennsylvania instead!
Many people thought I had lost my mind! No one from my high school had ever gone to an Ivy League school, but I decided to give it a try! Why not, right? I got into UPenn and spent four years studying business in the Wharton undergraduate program.
After graduation I spent 10 years in investment banking, specifically in bond origination. Basically, I helped clients borrow money from investors by selling new bonds. By 31, I was a Director at an investment bank here in Atlanta. By 33, I realized that while I loved my job and my clients, I was never going to be truly happy long-term in the investment banking world.
I’d always wanted to start my own business and so I left banking. I spent a few months learning how to code, and now I am actively working on a tech startup with a cofounder! (more to come on that soon!). I hope you enjoy my market updates and other content. I truly believe everyone can learn finance if the information is laid out without jargon and unnecessary complexity!
